Yumo Hui
My languages: Chinese, Italian, English
Yumo Hui is an illustrator from China, now based in Italy.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, and her master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.
Her work was shortlisted for the final list of the 2025 Bologna Illustrators Exhibition, and selected for the 2025 dPICTUS Unpublished Picturebook Showcase, the Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition, and the inaugural “100 Children’s Picture Books” project by the China Artists Association. She has also received several international recognitions, including an Honorable Mention at the 3x3 International Illustration Awards in the United States and the iJungle Emerging Talent Award....
Her visual language is both delicate and restrained—soft, warm in color, carrying a quiet resonance of the East. Whether digital or by hand, drawing remains her way of speaking with the world. Since printmaking became part of her practice, she has grown more attuned to placing its textures and rhythms gently within each image.
She is not a person of many words, nor particularly skilled in social exchange,
yet she longs, quietly, for more companionship.
If you are an illustrator and wish to talk about making things, write to her.
If you are a publisher, willing to walk alongside her for a while, write to her as well.
She is here.
